The coaching profession began to define itself as a distinct discipline in 1997, attracting people committed to bringing forth the highest human potential and helping individuals achieve their dreams. Pioneers in the profession such as Laura Whitworth, Henry Kimsey-House, Fran Fisher, Thomas Leonard and others had a vision for the world in which people manifest their unique magnificence and encourage and allow everyone around them to do the same.
From this vision Fran Fisher created an experiential discovery process for developing expression of essence, clarity of purpose and alignment of action. These are fundamental elements of transformative living. The process is called Living Your Vision® and building on that foundational course, Fran and her team created the Academy for Coach Training in 1997. The program, Certified Professional Coach, offered a comprehensive coach training approach that became one of the first officially accredited by the International Coach Federation in 1999.
The same group of pioneers understood the importance of a solid foundation and collaborated together to create the International Coach Federation in 1998, beginning with 50 members in North America. Today, the ICF as it is known is the global standard for ethical conduct and core coaching competencies, operating in over 80 countries with 16,000 members as of summer 2008.
In the fall of 2006, seven practicing ICF credentialed coaches and faculty members of the Academy for Coach Training purchased the company, including the signature transformative process, Living Your Vision®. With combined broad and deep experience as successful coaching professionals in executive leadership, organizational development, instructional design and delivery, human relations, spiritual evolution and personal transformation, the leadership has adopted the inviteCHANGE brand to more fully represent the scope of programs and services we offer to individuals, groups and organizations who are ready to embrace possibility, break through limitations and create lasting impact.
