Remember what it was like completing your coaching certification? Remember the sense of accomplishment, pride, excitement and yes not to mention a smidgen of fear also? Do you recall all the accolades from your loved ones, friends and colleagues? The After Glow that accompanies such events is likened to having a love affair - only this love affair is with YOU!
What are YOU doing to stoke your “after glow"?”
I attended the inviteCHANGE Certified Professional Coach graduation last week. I witnessed an “after glow” that almost required sunglasses. As 28 professional certified coaches walked across the podium to receive their certificates, my heart sang with excitement knowing first hand what it took for them to achieve this milestone. The transformative act of change – setting the intention and applying your attention with choice and action no matter how long or how challenging it is – was remarkable to experience through the stories of these graduates. Does the act of change increase the “after glow” to shine it’s brightest?
Over the weekend I noticed that I was feeling as though I was missing something. Yes, I have passion, love and appreciation for what I do and the impact it makes on the people and organizations I serve. That’s part of my glow. Perhaps being in full glow all the time is not realistic but paying attention for when it’s time to move the dimmer switch up a notch or two is a good thing. So what will move my dimmer switch up? Is it a vacation, more time for myself, running a marathon, losing weight,? And maybe it’s also about polishing and deepening my skills. It sounds like it is time for some reflection on my part.
In the meantime, what are YOU doing to stoke your “after glow”? Love to hear your thoughts and ideas.
