A little over ten years ago I was in the process of making significant life changes and knew I was being drawn to a different career path, one that pulled all that I had been and done to the present, utilizing the various stepping stones along the path. I heard about coaching and instantly felt my toes tingle at all it entailed and the possibilities ahead of me. Only willing to step out a little, I signed up for Essentials on 2/15/2001 with my friend Jill and we held hands and supported each other through those days of questioning and doubting and hearing our gremlins sing their destructive songs in our heads. My program completion occurred in February of 2002 and I have leapt, limped and languished through the development of my independent coaching practice, partnering here and there will like minded coaches, keeping my vision and purpose mindfully present.

From day one, (literally, I said so to Jill on our way home from the first day of the first course) I wanted to be a part of the inviteCHANGE (ACT) group of inspiring, professional, affirming spirits that create and support life changing opportunities. As with most things in my life, I needed to slow down, build the foundation under my dream, gain experience, work through the process, learn, grow and be ready for the invitation to arrive. And now that it has, I need to slow down, learn and grow, this time standing on the shoulders of incredible coaches and faculty, with the experience I needed for validity and the self confidence tempered with humility. Recently, I was preparing for the new Authentic Presence course, sorting through some old LYV material when I came upon a note Jill had slipped me way back in Essentials. On a crumpled sticky note were the words “We can do this…can't we?” As I take this next step in joining the faculty of inviteCHANGE, I can answer that question with “yes, I can do this” by embracing the lessons from all those steps that led me here and through the support of all the partners I join on this path.

Last month we introduced you to Natalie Benningfield, our Enrollment Specialist, and this month she is sharing her perspective about engaging with prospective participants for our coach training programs. If you are wondering if becoming a professional coach is for you and whether the inviteCHANGE programs are a good fit, Natalie provides a way for you to consider both of those questions from the inside-out!  Read Natalie's article in the inviteCHANGE blog.
