Edmonds, WA — A highly experienced business professional with both corporate and entrepreneurial experience and an ICF Professional Certified Coach credential holder walked into an advanced course training three years ago. Her name is Margie Gordillo. I knew in an instant that Margie’s relationship with inviteCHANGE was the beginning of an expansive journey with mutual benefit and enjoyment. It is with great delight that I welcome Margie into a new role with our organization, as our Faculty Coordinator. In addition to working closely with each faculty member and with me as Director of Training, you can expect to interact with Margie as a participant as our team works together to create a safe and welcoming learning environment where undaunted expression of essence occurs. Margie will share more about her role and vision in future issues. For now, please read on to experience a more personal side of what this change means for Margie!
Margie Gordillo
“I live adventurously.
There, I said it! As powerful and grounded as I am at times, I was timid about claiming my purpose of living adventurously as recently as a year ago. Since I believe that words have power, I was afraid that if I put the statement ‘out there’ for you and others to see, I would attract an adventure too big for me to handle.
And, as many of us experience, when I shy away from my purpose, my soul shrinks and withers. It’s simple. The adventure forces me to live just beyond my comfort zone; it stretches me and confronts me with two choices: control your outcome and live small, or trust the process and watch the possibilities begin to manifest themselves.
Who I am as a coach today requires me to live in the adventure and trust the process. I coach from as far-away places as Costa Rica, New Zealand, New York, most recently from an RV in the desert, and sometimes from my home-offices in San Francisco and Eugene, Oregon. Yes, it can be challenging with various technologies, time zones, and many moving parts.
In fact, my physical-human self wants to nail everything down and just stay home. And sometimes I do and I’m okay with it. But when I’m challenged by adventure, I show up different as a coach. When I honor the Adventurer, I am more spacious and my clients benefit from my increased consciousness of Expansion, Manifestation, Resourcefulness, Greater Possibility, and Profound Trust. It better equips me to boldly call my clients forth and step into their own magnificence. For me, as a coach, that holds untold satisfaction, fulfillment and feeds my passion for another dream I’ve held for years – to teach and inspire others.
That dream, or vision, was to work with a dynamic group of world change-agents: to co-create with inspired and inspiring leaders; to affect change in the world by developing coaches as leaders and leaders as coaches. I expressed this vision with the leaders of inviteCHANGE more than two years ago. My adventures fed my courage to share my vision passionately, like an enthusiastic child in the classroom, hand stretched long, fingers wildly dancing, singing ‘pick me, oh, oh, please pick me.’
When the possibility to work with this dynamic group at inviteCHANGE began to form, I felt the same fear/excitement I do when I begin an adventure. One minute I feel the YES I CAN, another, “Oh dear, can I do this?” That’s how I know I’m in the right place. Those are my clue-words of s-t-r-e-t-c-h.
So, as the new Faculty Coordinator, I begin another adventure. I love the landscape here, the players. My heart is full to serve in this capacity. I’m scared. I’m excited. And I know I have a lot to contribute, to learn, to grow and support others in their growth. I cannot WAIT to see the unfoldment of this most perfect adventure!”
Donna Edgins
Please welcome one of our new hosts for Coach Care Connection: Donna Edgins, inviteCHANGE Certified Professional Coach. We are very excited to provide our participants access to graduates who are actively engaged in coaching inside of organizations and building a professional coaching business as an entrepreneur. Here in Donna's words is her inspiration for stepping into this co-creation role for the inviteCHANGE coaches community.
My first draw to coaching was for my own process of transformation. When I heard the words, “inviteChange”, I realized how resistant I was to hearing those words and was curious about what the resistance to “change” was all about? That question gave me the first clue as to what my next step was going to be to continue on the path of transformation. ENROLL in coaching. Engaging in the coaching process helped identify where my belief structures and concepts were out of date and had become rigid. The dissolution of some of the old internal structures has opened new perspectives, new frontiers, and ways of experiencing life that I never thought I would have rights to — or opportunities — to explore and engage in. I am also aware that when I open to new realities, I am in a better place to serve my clients.
Coach Care Connection is a wonderful opportunity to have a container where coaches can reconnect, share about their experiences, and pick up new ideas that come from collaborative thinking, and engaging in “reality checks”. I savor the opportunity to be amongst those who make their lives about transformation and living life to the fullest. I also love when a fellow coach is sharing about an experience and their words “click in” and unlock a perspective I never dreamed about. Every time I show up and engage with a group of coaches, I always walk away with a basket of “wisdom nuggets”. How many times do we have the opportunity to show up and have the opportunity to be supported whole-heartedly and receive encouragement for our own path of development? I feel the Coach Care Connection is one of those vehicles and will do my best to create a collaborative and safe environment where coaches have the opportunity to dive in, explore, navigate and share the wealth of resources from the river of coaches.
